Ever since colonization, Native Americans have been abused and oppressed and sometimes it seems as though very little has changed over the years.
For quite some time, Native Americans have been experiencing a housing crisis in various states. Due to these hard times, they have called upon the United States government to come up with a helpful solution. Instead of listening to the people that are experiencing these troubles - fundamental troubles - USA Today decided to give a bunch of privileged white folk the chance to weigh in on the Native American's cry for help.
Of all places, USA Today turned to the popular social media platform, Facebook, to record opinions of the general public. Because, why not listen to a bunch of people that are rather unrelated to this situation? It would be far too easy to ask and interview the Native Americans that are actually experiencing the housing crisis.
Among some of the most distasteful answers (they were all distasteful) are these:
"I’m tired of all the tax dollars used to support these Native American tribes.
They are so corrupt. It’s sad to see the leadership steal from its own people."
AND -
"I think it’s time to pull the plug on this program. Hope it’s on President Trump’s list, but probably not."
Lovely.
