TIMELINE - WHICH EVENTS SHOULD BE THERE?

We're in the process of constructing the timelines for each of the home pages and would be grateful for any input on which events ought to be included.
Reply below to suggest additions (or changes) to the Middle East timeline.

Obviously, Syria is a central scene in this regard right now and the US is starting to get involved. Not sure how to represent it, however, and what are the implications.

I love this article by Israeli journalist Ofer Aderet about Israeli attempts to reach out to Mrtin Luther King in the early 60s to create a stronger connection between the State of Israel and the American black community and Civil Rights Movement. Would you include it in the timeline?

That is a fantastic idea, Sirene. Other materials that can be included are excerpts from Kamal Abdel-Malek and Mouna El Kahla, eds. America in an Arab Mirror (Palgrave, 2011). Another interesting translated novel is: Alexandra Chreiteh's Always Coca-Cola (Interlink, 2012).

The conflict in Syria seems to be getting worse everyday. There is a lot of media coverage now on the Syrian refugee crisis. I would like to see a discussion on the decision of some American states to refuse the entry of some refugees in their state and how that might further damage the relations between the Middle East and America.
